History of Peuker and Alexander
The company was established in 1948 as a hardwood sawmiller
based in Keilor before moving to a second mill located at
Trentham, Victoria. In 1954 the company moved to the Melbourne
suburb of Glenroy and registered its current trading name.
During this time it was predominantly a timber and hardware
merchant although it did operate a white goods outlet in the
same suburb.
In 1962, Bill Peuker left the business and the company moved
to its present site in Broadmeadows. Whilst the company continued
to grow its timber business it also developed a reputation
for quality "cut to size" oregon during the ensuing
years until the introduction of "pre cut" oregon
imports signalled the end of the oregon sawmill era.
During the nineties, the company decided to compliment its
timber business by manufacturing pre-fabricated roof trusses
and engineered products. 2005 saw the introduction of a "state
of the art" wallframe production line, now making us
the true one stop shop for engineered products.
The company is owned and operated by the Alexander family
and continues to build on its reputation as a Professional
Supplier of quality building materials to the industry.
